Sacred silence should be greeting my ears Reverence for the holy one I seek Who binds the worldly wounds that make me weak. I light a candle to frighten the tears As I am assaulted by the worst of fears That the omnipresent God that I seek Dwells not in cathedrals but once a week,
That my hope was in vain after all these years. Oh God subdue this crowd! Muffle the chaos! Must only the dead find quiet repose? For even as I gaze upon thy cross Flashes interrupt the hope that flows From foolish expectations set too high. Is it folly
